Woman makes off with wallet after posing as council staff to trick her way into Northampton property

A trickster made off with a wallet after conning her way into a property in Northampton by claiming to be from council staff.
Detectives are keen to find out if anyone saw the woman knocking on doors late at night in Parkwod Street, in the St James' area.

Hide AdA Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "A woman purporting to be from the local council knocked on the door of an address in the area at about 10.30pm on Sunday, May 24.
"She tricked her way inside, claiming to be from the local council, and then stole a wallet.
"If there was anyone in the area who may have seen anything suspicious, or may have information that could be of use in our investigations, please call us on 101 using Incident number 20000263531."
Police issue regular warning about so-called distraction burglaries and doorstep crime, using the motto "if you're not sure, don't open the door!"
